22314. THE OLD, OLD STORY
Lyrics & Stanzas
4 portions
Verse 1
The old, old story, the story of the cross, How God in mercy, to save the world from loss, Here as a ransom, did give His only Son, That thru His dying salvation might be won.
Verse 2
The old, old story, the sweetest ever told, Entreats the wand’rers to come back to the fold, Where safe from tempests and dangers they may be, And safely sheltered thru all eternity.
Verse 3
The old, old story, so old, yet ever new, Can soothe and comfort, as nothing else can do, O sinner, harken, its mandates to obey, And it will lead you into the living way.
Chorus
The old (old) story of God’s (great) glory, We’ll keep (on) telling to earth’s unnumbered throng, With hopes (grown) fonder, some day (up) yonder, With glad (free) voices, we’ll sing redemption’s song.
