22242. WHY WILL YOU IN BONDAGE STAY
Lyrics & Stanzas
4 portions
Verse 1
Why will you in bondage stay? Folly in its chains has bound you, All the wages it will pay Will be death and woe. Jesus Christ can set you free, If you will His servant be, He redemption will bestow, Come, His favor know.
Verse 2
If the Son shall make you free, You are free from sin and sorrow; Christ can give you liberty, If you will obey. He your shackles will remove, He your friend will ever prove, Why will you in bondage stay? Ask His help today.
Verse 3
Why will you in bondage stay? Sin and death no hope can offer Of a brighter, better day, Why to evil bow? Prison doors are opened wide, By the Savior crucified, Richly He will you endow, Seek salvation now.
Chorus
Why will you linger here in bondage! Sin rules in the darkness, Jesus will redeem you, Come into the light while it is day, Why will you linger here in bondage? Let Him loose your fetters, He opens the prison wide, Then come unto the Lord while you may. (Come, come, come, come, come, come, come, Why in bondage will you linger? Sin rules in the dreary darkness, Jesus Christ will now redeem you, Come, come, while ‘tis day, Why in bondage will you linger? Won’t you let Him loose your galling fetters, He now opens the prison wide, Then come, come, while you may.)
